In the series, Mercer (Michael James Shaw) is the head of the Commonwealth Military, which only signals a more harrowing conflict with the Alexandria survivors. A character from the comics, Mercer, will also appear in the final season. With The Whisperers out of the picture, a new threat is looming in the form of mysterious soldiers whose intent is not yet fully known. The all-out war they had with Alpha and the rest of The Whisperers also took a toll on their resources, aggravating tension, distrust, and their already alert sense of self-preservation.
The residents of Alexandria, still reeling from the loss and devastation caused by The Whisperers, find themselves at odds with each other over past events. The Walking Dead Season 11 picks up where the end of Season 10 left off.

The Walking Dead follows survivors of the zombie apocalypse, clinging to life despite threats from both the “walkers” and other groups of survivors. Some of the characters from both shows even crossed paths in The Walking Dead universe.
